The Mountain Loop Experience is a tri-city celebration of the long awaited grand Re-Opening of the Mountain Loop Highway on June 28th & 29th 2008. The “Loop” is a 100 mile stretch of roadway between Granite Falls, Darrington, and Arlington. The drive takes you along 3 beautiful rivers, stunning old growth forests and across a low mountain pass. With it’s spectacular scenery and close proximity to Seattle, it is one of the most scenic areas in the State of Washington for family picnics, day hiking trails, campgrounds, fishing, wildlife viewing, rock climbing, kayaking & mountain biking.
In the fall of 2003 heavy flooding washed out four sections of this historic byway near Barlow Pass and closed the road to outdoor enthusiasts. After $10 million in repairs, the road will be officially re-opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the National Forest Service at noon Saturday June 28th.
To celebrate this event, Granite Falls, Darrington, and Arlington will individually host weekend long activities. Arts & crafts, 5K run, sidewalk sales, carnivals, an amazing race competition and much more will be a part of the 2 day kick off for this new annual event.
COME DRIVE THE “LOOP” AND EXPERIENCE THE MAJESTIC BEAUTY OF MOUNT BAKER-SNOQUALIMIE NATIONAL FOREST!
